Heavy Work, Learning, and Behavior
Heavy work helps kids’ brains understand their bodies through a tricky little thing called the proprioceptive system. When they don’t get enough information through this essential system, their brains make their bodies move anyway to fill this developmental need. It may look like bad behavior, or an inability to self-regulate, or poor self-control, but in truth, it is more likely just the brain seeking information. The bottom line, however? All that wiggling makes attending and learning very hard.
