Working more moving into the day can be challenging but doesn’t have to be impossible. Start by making a transition full of powerful moving rather than the typical bubbles-mouth-line plan. If there is no one else in the hall, moving like bears to the music room can be powerful and set kids up (and the music teacher too) for a productive lesson. The next week try adding moving to circle time.
Rule of thumb: a child can only sit still for 2-3 minutes for every year of life. So 3’s can only sit still for 6 to 9 minutes before they need to move. 5s can only sit still for 10-15 minutes. So a 20-minute circle time needs moving!
