Topic 2: What Is Crossing the Midline?

You might ask, “What the heck is crossing the midline?” Good question.

Connecting the two halves of the brain is the job of the Corpus Callosum. This connection allows the brain to manipulate complex information into formal reasoning. The more we can access both sides of our brain, the more intelligently we can operate in our world.

Crossing the midline happens when we move an appendage from one side of the body to the other side like touching our left shoulder with our right hand, or even sitting criss cross applesauce. Crossing the midline also happens when we move one side of the body because that action is controlled by the opposite side of the brain, as in crawling.
