Topic 3: Why Is It Important and How Do We Strengthen It?

 

Of course it comes as no surprise that strengthening the lower body comes with big body physical play.  Looking for ways to incorporate squatting and deadlifting into games and activities will further support that lower body strength.  For example, activities that require children to get up off the floor repeatedly will build lower body strength, like Freeze and Melt.  Or lifting heavy things off the floor will mimic the deadlift, like picking up a pile of poly spots or cones.
